Jessica Sanchez on 'American Idol' takes on Mariah Carey

Jessica Sanchez is up second on "American Idol."

The judges reveal their pick for Sanchez and it's Mariah Carey's "My All."

Jennifer Lopez said for Sanchez she chose one of her "favorite songs," explaining the judges wanted to hear Sanchez deal with the tenderness of the song.

In a long purple gown, Sanchez doesn't disappoint. Still, the slow number is a bit boring after Joshua Ledet's gospel tune. And it doesn't get the judges on their feet. 

"That was absolutely beautiful," Randy Jackson says. "I think it is one of the best times a Mariah song has ever been performed on TV."

Lopez said Sanchez showed her vocal control with the song and "did it in [her] own way."

Ryan Seacrest sums it up before heading to commercial: "Tenderness achieved," he said.
