Jonesin': 11 is heaven for 'iCarly' star
WHO Miranda Cosgrove with Cody Simpson and Greyson Chance
WHEN | WHERE 7 tonight
DETAILS Miranda Cosgrove, who is known for her starring role on Nickelodeon's "iCarly," is also an up-and-coming pop star. The young singer's album, "Sparks Fly," debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 last year. She'll be joined by fellow teens Cody Simpson and Greyson Chance.
DID YOU KNOW Cosgrove was discovered by a talent agent when she was 3. After appearing in commercials for McDonald's and Mello Yello, her first TV role was as a young Lana Lang on Smallville in 2001.
STICK AROUND FOR Cosgrove's hit single off her "High Maintenance" EP is "Dancing Crazy," a track co-written by Avril Lavigne. Lavigne apparently didn't complicate the song too much, as the tune reached a spot on Billboard's Hot 100.
TAKE A CHANCE Ellen DeGeneres named her record label eleveneleven because she first saw Chance's YouTube cover of "Paparazzi" on May 11, 2010, and the young singer's soccer jersey is number 11. Chance was the first artist signed to the label.
WHEN | WHERE 6:30 p.m. tomorrow
DETAILS 311 just released its 10th album and is still bringing hits such as "Down" and "All Mixed Up" to listeners around the country. Sublime With Rome, meanwhile, is made up of Sublime's original drummer, Bud Gaugh, and bassist, Eric Wilson, who are playing with Rome Ramirez as their frontman-guitarist.
STICK AROUND FOR While Sublime With Rome will often finish off sets with "Santeria," one might need a crystal ball to figure out what 311 will encore with. One or both of the band's final songs will likely be "Omaha Stylee" or "Feels So Good."
INDECENCY 311 is named after the police code for indecent exposure in its hometown of Omaha. The band chose the name after its original guitarist was arrested for streaking.
SO SUE ME Sublime With Rome played the Smokeout Festival under the Sublime moniker Oct. 22, 2009. The next day, the late original singer Bradley Nowell's estate slapped the band with the threat of a lawsuit, saying Nowell didn't want the name Sublime used again. Sublime With Rome consented, changing its name and continuing to play Sublime's hits.
WHO Goo Goo Dolls, Michelle Branch and Parachute
WHEN | WHERE 7 p.m. Sunday
DETAILS The Goo Goo Dolls, who formed in Buffalo 25 years ago, bring those classics "Iris" and "Slide" to life on stage. The Goos will be accompanied by Michelle Branch, who is best known for hits like "All You Wanted" and "Everywhere." University of Virginia graduates Parachute will start things off.
STICK AROUND FOR The Goo Goo Dolls finish their set, as would be expected, with "Iris" and then encore with "Broadway." Branch, meanwhile, tends to round her performances out with "All You Wanted."
PARENTAL AID Branch's parents financed her first album, "Broken Bracelet." The album was named after a piece of jewelry musician Steve Poltz gave Branch, telling her she'd become famous when it broke.
TOO GROSS The Goo Goo Dolls originally were named the Sex Maggots but had to change their name when a promoter refused to book them. Acting instinctively, they picked their name from a True Detective magazine ad for a toy called the Goo Goo Doll.
