Before he performed his song choice "Imagine" on "American Idol" Wednesday, Joshua Ledet talked with Ryan Seacrest about his visit to Westlake, La., his hometown.

Ledet showed his naturally vibrant personality in clips from his trip, making jokes in the video.

"They are really acting like I am Barack Obama," he said emphatically. "Look at all these cop cars. Do you feel safe?" he asks the camera. "'Cause I feel safe."

He slowed it down for the song and brought some soul to the John Lennon ballad. He amped it up at the end, holding the final notes of the song.

"Another thank-you God moment," Steven Tyler praised.

Jennifer Lopez added that he showed his control and courage with the performance.

"It's just a beautiful thing to watch," she said.
