Katy Perry, Kanye West miscast on 'American Idol'

Katy Perry is out to rock "American Idol," with "ET." I liked her better when she just came out and sang and danced, without all the Cirque du Soleil stuff.

It's the kind of performance we're going to look back on next year and wonder what the heck.... Song's unmelodic, special effects are random.

Kanye West shows up to strut around a bit. The whole thing is a mess. What are they doing on the show? It's just an extended ad for her tour, really. Nothing about them speaks to what the show is about, and Ryan Seacrest isn't even on stage to talk to them afterward (maybe the whole thing was taped earlier).
