Lee DeWyze sings "Everybody Hurts" on "American Idol," chosen by Simon Fuller. It's a good choice, lets him soar with his tone, and go all achy with his voice.

His arrangement is a bit higher-pitched than normal, a bit more compelling, speeded-up Frankly, I'm not crazy about it. I think it's a bit too different and doesn't quite hang together for me, even though it definitely showcases his vocals. Just doesn't feel like the song of a champion.

Randy says the start was pitchy, but that he pulled it together, "a lot better." Ellen says go for it more, don't keep pulling back. Kara says you were emotionally accessible, carried you despite a not perfect vocal.

Simon loved the song choice, but "you're nervous," wants "a 10 out of 10" for your last performance and tells him he's capable of it.
