Maksim Chmerkovskiy leaving 'Dancing With the Stars' in 2014

"Don't worry," the Emmy-winner tweeted, "you have plenty of time to watch him do his THANG!!!"

Chmerkovskiy, 32, had himself alerted fans on his own Twitter page, writing, "With nothing but love, gratitude and respect to all that played a part in that amazing aspect of my life," and linking to an interview in which he said, "Essentially, 80% of our job is to give somebody another push in their career. Or we make them into likable characters. But at the end of the day, they go off and they better themselves. I loved doing it. But to be honest with you, at 32, I am at what-about-me time."

His representative confirmed to E! News that Chmerkovskiy will not return after his contact expires. ABC and BBC Worldwide Productions, which created the show, had no comment for ABC News.

Chmerkovskiy -- who hosts the Ukrainian version of the British game show "The Cube" and starred as "The Bachelor" in the 2011 Ukrainian edition of the dating competition -- said he wants to pursue acting, and that he plays a Latin dancer in an unnamed romantic comedy that begins production in January.
