Newsday earns 7 New York Emmy nominations
Seven video/multimedia packages produced by Newsday journalists received nominations Thursday for the 55th New York Emmy competition, garnering the most nods of any newspaper in the area.
Staff members clinched nominations in the categories of: Interactivity, for "9/11 a Decade Later," Education, for "Chess Champions," Politics, for "On the Campaign Trail for NY Governor," Children, for "Kid Wears Tie to Raise Money," Religion, for "Frank Bice: Daily Devotional," Societal Concerns, for "Father's Day in Jail" and Documentary, for "Marisa: A Little Girl's Fight to Live."
The New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the nominations of work submitted by dozens of news organizations at the studios of CUNY-TV.
Winners will be announced at a black tie gala scheduled for April 1 at the Marriott Marquis hotel in Manhattan's Times Square.
