'Office' finale: Warren Buffett
Now "The Office" finale has officially become over the top, not that it wasn't tottering before: Warren Buffett is taping a cameo for the May 19 season-ender. He's interviewing for Michael Scott's job.
Yes, you are right -- this is not a good omen for the classic, which has had an average-to- weak seventh season, while the Will Ferrell arc was so painful, so unfunny, that viewers actually dropped out of the series. "The Office" seems to have lost it's way -- I don't want to go so far as to say that it's completely entangled in the underbrush and will never fight it's way out, but the sheer gimmick-grabbing Rolodex of names now slated to appear next week -- Jim Carrey, Ricky Gervais, Will Arnett, James Spader, Ray Romano and Catherine Tate -- suggests utter desperation.
Who's missing from this crowd? Oh right, Robin Williams. Surely he should be making a cameo, too.
But let's give it a chance. I'm willing to. If "The Office" -- which has provided so much pleasure for so long -- doesn't deserve a second chance, than what series does?
But mark me down as "worried."
Variety. by the way, first reported and confirmed the Buffett cameo.
