Netflix has ordered a reboot of the CBS hit, "One Day at a Time," which aired from 1975 to 1984. The new version will feature a Cuban-American family. Credit: CBS

The reboot rage continues -- Netflix has ordered a 13-episode revival of '70s (and '80s) sitcom, "One Day at a Time." The really big news here, however, is that creator and original showrunner Norman Lear will return to produce. Lear hasn't been involved in a day-to-day TV production effort since the mid-90s, with the short-lived "704 Hauser."

His return -- at age 93 -- will raise the inevitable question: Is this a prelude to a return for a "re-imagined" "All in the Family?"

In announcing this revival just a week after the death of core castmember Pat Harrington Jr., at age 86, Netflix indicated this will not incorporate original cast members, like the revival of "Full House," arriving on Netflix Feb. 26, but instead focus on an all-new family -- a Cuban-American one. (Bonnie Franklin, the lead of the original "One Day," died in 2013).

Here's the thru-line:

" ... re-imagining of the Norman Lear classic, centering on a Cuban-American family. Our heroine is a recently separated, former military mom navigating a new single life while raising her radical teenage daughter and socially adept tween son, with the “help” of her old school Cuban-born mom and a friends-without-benefits building manager named Schneider. 13-episodes, multi-cam comedy."

No casting details. Mike Royce, a well-regarded veteran producer, and Emmy Award winner, long associated with Ray Romano and "Everybody Loves Raymond," will be an executive producer on this new project, which does not yet have an arrival date.
