Patricia Shevlin: New boss of 'Evening News'
Pat Shevlin will replace Rick Kaplan as exec producer of the CBS "Evening News." Rick ran Katie Couric's show, and did a great job, but a new anchor is in -- Scott Pelley -- and so he is out. Shevlin is terrific: she knows this show and what makes it tick better than anyone on the planet, except maybe her boss, Jeff Fager, who also once ran it. She's a real CBS News veteran, and survived a lot of wars at the so-called "Milk Factory" -- the West 57th Street HQ. Good appointment, and good for her.
