Paul McDonald can do no wrong in judges' eyes on 'American Idol'

Paul McDonald is first up as "American Idol" sings songs that have been in movies, on a night when the judges are probably going to actually judge and not just do happy talk.

Too bad it came too late to help save PIa Toscano.  

He's gonna sing "Old Time Rock n' Roll," a fun song that's a good pick for his style. Let's see if he can pull it off. Mmmm, not a good start, comes out just saying the words, not really singing. It's flat the whole way through, the blonde sax player is the best part of the performance. 

Steven Tyler wants to know about the sax player, too. Of his performance, he says: "I liked it." Oh jeez, Jennifer Lopez is also in full-out praise mode, she winds up saying "good job." Randy Jackson says he "loved" the outfit and the performance.

I mean, were they watching a different channel?!
