Leesburg, Ga.'s Phillip Phillips visited his old job at a pawnshop during his hometown visit.
Phillips showed his sentimental side in the clips, tearing up when he was greeted by fans at his hometown's parade.
For his song choice, he performed "Disease" by Matchbox Twenty. Sitting with his guitar, Phillips started the song slow and steady, speeding up as the song progressed. The song was a bit slow for this point in the show.
"I didn't feel like it was the wow performance," Jennifer Lopez said. "It was good, of course it was good," she said.
Steven Tyler agreed, saying that the song was "not over the top."
Randy Jackson said he also didn't like the performance, calling it subdued.
"It was just OK," he said, siding with the other judges.
