Portia de Rossi stands by embattled wife Ellen DeGeneres
Portia de Rossi on Monday stood behind her embattled wife, daytime-talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, in the wake of a report painting the latter's program as a toxic workplace.
"To all our fans....we see you. Thank you for your support," wrote the former actress, 47, on Instagram along with graphical-text image reading, "I Stand By Ellen.” In response to the trending hashtag #ReplaceEllen, de Rossi offered #IStandWithEllenDeGeneres, #IStandByEllen and #IstandByEllenDeGeneres, as well as the unexplained hashtag #stopbotattacks.
Following BuzzFeed's scathing July 16 article detailing negative complaints from interviews with current and former "Ellen" employees, actor Brad Garrett tweeted, "Sorry but it comes from the top @TheEllenShow Know more than one who were treated horribly by her." Actress Lea Thompson commented on a People magazine tweet about Garrett, agreeing, "True story. It is."
DeGeneres, 62, sent a memo last week apologizing to staff. WarnerMedia, parent company of the "Ellen" production company, launched an investigation into the show's workplace practices.
