The Showtime crime drama "Ray Donovan," canceled last year after seven seasons and 82 episodes, has an airdate for its previously announced movie sequel.
The pay-cable channel on Monday released a trailer and announced that "Ray Donovan: The Movie," with Liev Schreiber reprising his title role, is set to premiere on Jan. 14. Showtime, which announced the film in February, said in August it would be released this winter.
The film picks up with Ray's duplicitous father, Mickey Donovan (Jon Voight), missing and Ray determined to find and stop him before he can create more carnage. The story also examines the present-day fallout from the Donovan-Sullivan feud and Mickey's criminal roots from 30 years earlier.
Also starring are series cast members Eddie Marsan and Dash Mihok as Ray's brothers, Terry and Bunchy, respectively; Pooch Hall as their half-brother Daryll; Kerris Dorsey as Ray's daughter, Bridget; Katherine Moennig as Lena; and Kerry Condon as Molly Sullivan. Schreiber co-wrote the script with series show runner David Hollander, who directed the film.
