Say goodbye to Kate Gosselin -- at least as a reality-TV star, People magazine reports.

TLC announced Monday that it has decided not to renew "Kate Plus 8," the series that chronicled the lives of Gosselin, now a single mom, and her brood. That series, of course, was the successor to the highly rated "Jon & Kate Plus 8."

"By the end of this season, 'Kate Plus 8' will have hit the 150-episode mark (including 'Jon & Kate Plus 8'); an exceptional milestone," the network said in a statement. TLC did say it "hopes to check in with Kate and the family periodically with specials in the future."

The now-defunct Discovery Health channel first introduced the Gosselins to viewers in 2007 with the special "Surviving Sextuplets and Twins." Its sister channel, TLC, turned the family's adventures into a regular series, "Jon & Kate Plus 8," starting in September 2008.

But the Gosselins soon became fixtures of the supermarket tabloids as rumors that Jon Gosselin was cheating surfaced. The couple subsequently went through a very public separation and divorce.

Soon after the announcement, Kate Gosselin took to Twitter to confirm the news. "TLC canceled it. I'm sorry," she wrote. "While it is very sad for me and the kids (there were many tears at the breakfast table this morning!), we are looking forward with great anticipation to our bright future!"

As for Jon Gosselin, he told RadarOnline.com he was relieved. "I hope that this will bring more privacy to my children and that they can get the proper attention they need."
