Shannon Magrane takes on Mariah Carey and soars on 'American Idol'

Shannon Magrane next on "American Idol," singing Mariah Carey's "One Sweet Day."

Fantastic start, shapes the song slowly; really gets the timing just right, and is believable. And then unleashes her voice on the chorus, gets the crowd applauding. Best of the night, so far.

Jennifer Lopez has a huge smile on her face, "That was not an easy undertaking, I was honestly terrified for you -- but you did a wonderful job with that."

"I think you sing your best when you don't try so hard, and that was beautiful," says Steven Tyler.

Randy Jackson also said he wasn't sure when he saw what she was singing, but loved it, calls her "fearless."
