'Sharknado 3' does D.C., Orlando

"Sharknado" is a 2013 made-for-television disaster movie about a waterspout that lifts sharks out of the ocean and deposits them in Los Angeles. Its sequel, "Sharknado 2: The Second One," premieres at 9 p.m. EST July 30 on SyFy. Credit: The Asylum
It didn't take NBC Universal long to figure out that there's actually a promotional benefit to sharks and tornados: The hit movie franchise will take on Orlando, home of Universal Orlando Resort, in the third edition, arriving next summer.
SyFy, which is owned by NBC Universal, announced the new edition Monday, with surprisingly modest brevity:
"Sharknado 3 will strike Washington, hit the Eastern Seaboard and then smash into Orlando for the final confrontation."
Washington leaked earlier last month, so no surprise there. Besides, D.C. is an especially target-rich environment: Not only will the sharks enjoy themselves, but so will the constituents.
What's especially intriguing, however, is that Orlando reference. Is Universal perhaps building a new Sharknado attraction? Or are sharknados just another intersesting meteorological facet to be explored at the already established attraction, "Twister...Ride it Out?"
Sharks falling from the rafters?
Rubber shark tchotchkes for sale?
The potential profit is limited only by the imagination...
