'Simpsons' to honor Marcia Wallace
The producers of "The Simpsons" will honor actress Marcia Wallace, who voiced teacher Edna Krabappel and died last Friday, a week before her 71st birthday. Entertainment Weekly said Thursday that Fox will replace an "American Dad" rerun at 7:30 Sunday night with the third-season episode "Bart the Lover," focusing on Edna's lonely life and that won Wallace an Emmy for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance. The new 8 p.m. episode "4 Regrettings and a Funeral," will conclude with a tribute card from the producers honoring Wallace, a 1970s TV icon for her role as receptionist Carol Kester on the sitcom "The Bob Newhart Show."
