Staten Island comedian joins new season of 'SNL'
Twenty-year-old comedian Pete Davidson, of Staten Island, has joined "Saturday Night Live" as a featured player. Deadline.com reported Monday that "SNL" executive producer Lorne Michaels hand-picked the standup comic for the show's 40th season, premiering Sept. 27. Davidson turned to comedy at 16 as a therapeutic outlet after losing his firefighter father some years earlier on 9/11, Deadline said. He was mentored by Nick Cannon, who hired him as a semiregular on his MTV2 improv comedy series "Wild 'N Out." Davidson appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in April.
