Stephanopoulos to replace Amanpour

Stephanopoulos takes over for Amanpour

Christiane Amanpour, who replaced George Stephanopoulos on the Sunday morning political talk show "This Week" when he joined "Good Morning America," will herself be replaced by Stephanopoulos, reports Newsday's Verne Gay. ABC News announced yesterday that Stephanopoulos will return to his former show Jan. 8 and is expected to remain with "GMA" although his schedule there is expected to be cut back. Iranian-born Amanpour will continue at ABC as "global affairs reporter," but also anchor a nightly news program for CNN International.
