Stephen Colbert: Splat

  Just catching up now to Stephen Colbert's appearance before some befuddled group of elected official-types yesterday, and even though I'm really late to this party (and the lights have been turned out) I see no good reason not to state the obvious:

  The laugh track was invented for a reason...

  Now, irrespective of the content of SC's speech, the best part of this whole affair is the audience reaction. Stone cold. It was like they were attending a funeral service. Or an execution. They would have been more animated at a cattle auction.

  Best of all, CNN correspondent Dana Bash, off to the right (in the posted video) who keeps texting her husband John King to the effect, "why didn't YOU cover this, pal?"

  What a hoot! I've also posted Megyn Kelly's sorta rant; she actually has a little background, and I also think her observation -   "what the hell was that" -- was spot on.
