Stewart on GE/NBC News

This "Daily Show" piece would be funnier if GE actually still owned NBC -- which it doesn't. (Jon Stewart acknowledges as much.) In fact, NBC News has cited its ownership for years, stemming from controversies in the earlier days when it did not, as a matter of habit. (The network was in a tricky position because the parent owner was not only a huge defense contractor but a driver in the world economy that instituted massive layoffs through the years, including at NBC.) Comcast is now majority owner.
