"Survivor" includes LI teacher

Christine Shields Markoski, a teacher currently living in Merrick, is one of the 18 castaways set to compete in "Survivor: South Pacific," when the twenty-third installment of the Emmy Award-winning reality series premieres Wednesday, Sept. 14 (8:00 - 9:30 p.m.) on CBS. Credit: CBS
Sixteen of the 18 castaways on “Survivor: South Pacific” (debuting Sept. 14) were revealed by CBS Monday — and the list includes one Long Islander, Christine Shields Markoski, a 39-year-old teacher from Merrick.
Two more castaways will be named later -- they’re both former contestants who will be given another chance.
LI has, of course, already given the show one champ — Sayville firefighter Tom Westman back in ‘04.
This edition, by the way, will bring back the popular “Redemption Island” feature that was the signature of the most recent edition.
