Take 5: All the presidents' namesakes

Let's celebrate Presidents Day by offering up this list of memorable TV characters whose surnames (and in one case, entire name) are shared with five of our chief executives:

1. GEORGE JEFFERSON (Sherman Hemsley) - Curmudgeonly dry-cleaning magnate who moved on up to a "deluxe apartment in the sky."

2. FREDDY "BOOM BOOM" WASHINGTON (Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs) - The hippest of the sweathogs on "Welcome Back, Kotter."

3. HARRY S. TRUMAN (Michael Ontkean) - Tight-lipped sheriff who led the investigation of Laura Palmer's murder on "Twin Peaks."

4. OSCAR MADISON (Jack Klugman) - Neatness-challenged half of "The Odd Couple."

5. LOU GRANT (Ed Asner) - Hard-bitten TV news producer-editor on "The Mary Tyler Moore" and his eponymous drama.
