Take 5: The Nasheville beat goes on
As ABC's much-anticipated drama "Nashville" debuts Oct. 10, we take a look at five other shows that have been filmed or set in Tennessee's capital of country music:
1. NASHVILLE 99 (1977, CBS) -- In this series, which lasted but three weeks, Claude Akins and country star Jerry Reed, played a pair of Nashville cops.
2. THE NASHVILLE PALACE (1981, NBC) -- This country-themed variety show broadcast from Opryland USA was the first show to be canceled during the 1981-82 TV season.
3. NASHVILLE NOW (1983-93, TNN) -- Remember The Nashville Network, the country-themed cable channel (that's now SpikeTV)? This was its signature program, a nightly talk-variety show hosted by genial radio-TV personality Ralph Emery, left.
4. NASHVILLE BEAT (1989, TNN) -- "Adam-12" stars Kent McCord and Martin Milner reunited for this TV movie. McCord was an L.A. detective who teams with his old partner (Milner) in Nashville.
5. NASHVILLE STAR (2003-08, USA/NBC) -- Popular singing competition (hosted by Jewel) that essentially was "American Idol's" country cousin. Current superstar Miranda Lambert finished third on the show's first season.
