New Mexico celebrated its centennial earlier this year (admitted to the Union as the 47th state), and "Breaking Bad," which is set in Albuquerque, returns Sunday for its final season on AMC. So we have a double celebration this week as we look at five other series set in the Land of Enchantment.

1. THE RIFLEMAN (1958-63) -- The Western saga of single dad-homesteader-marksman Lucas McCain (Chuck Connors) trying to raise his young son (Johnny Crawford) took place in the town of North Fork, N.M., during the 1880s. New Mexico, of course, was a territory at the time.

2. GUESTWARD HO! (1960-61) -- Forgotten sitcom (although it's clearly a proto-"Green Acres") about a New York family that gets fed up with the rat race and moves to New Mexico to run a dude ranch.

3. EMPIRE (1962-63)/REDIGO (1963) -- Drama set at a contemporary, multimillion-dollar ranch overseen by foreman Jim Redigo (Richard Egan). He would be spun off into his own short-lived series set in the same New Mexico area.

4. ROSWELL (1999-2002) -- Sci-fi soap about three alien teens stranded on Earth near the small New Mexico town known for its famous UFO sightings.

5. IN PLAIN SIGHT (2008-12) -- Mary McCormack starred in this drama as Mary Shannon, a deputy U. S. marshal attached to the Albuquerque office of the Federal Witness Security Program.
