TCA: 'Weeds' lives on
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.
How much longer can "Weeds" go on? It's the enduring question without an answer — the mystery of the TV industry itself. Can a show that has drifted so ridiculously far from the original premise continue on indefinitely while drifting from one premise to the next until (say) "Weeds" isn't even about a pot-selling mom, but a female monk in Uzbekistan who sells Buddhist mood rings and is played by (who else) Mary-Louise Parker? Sure. Why not?
David Nevins, Showtime E chief indicated as much this morning, when he told critics he's "optimistic" the show will go on beyond the seventh season. Listening to his enthusiasm, some were doubtless left with the impression it will go on far beyond that.
