Ted Danson returns to NBC in new fall comedy

Feeling like a network in first place — which it is, among young adult viewers — NBC has done what first place networks tend to do: Leave the schedule alone. It will add just three new series to the fall schedule.
One of them will star Ted Danson, returning to NBC primetime in a regular series role for the first time since 1993. (Any guesses which show that was? Correct: “Cheers.”)
NBC, by the way, did pick up a number of mid-season series, including (as expected) “The Blacklist” spinoff, “The Blacklist: Redemption,” and Dick Wolf’s Chicago legal drama, “Chicago Justice.” Expect those by January, or later.
Quickly, the lineup:
Monday: “The Voice” (8); “Timeless” (10), about a time machine and the bad guys who steal it, starring Abigail Spencer.
Tuesday: “The Voice” (8); “This is Us” (10), ensemble dramedy, with Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia and Sterling K. Brown (“The People V. O.J. Simpson”).
Wednesday: “Blindspot” (8); “L&O:SVU” (9); “Chicago P.D.” (10)
Thursday: “Superstore” (8); “The Good Place” (8:30), Danson, and Kristen Bell in a Mike Schur (“Parks & Recreation”) comedy about a woman who discovers in the “afterlife” that she wasn’t a very good person in regular life, and seeks to make amends. “Chicago Med” (9); The “Blacklist” (10).
Friday: “Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon” (8); “Grimm” (9); “Dateline NBC” (10)
Saturday: “Saturday Dateline Mysteries” (8); “Saturday Night Live (encores)” (10).
Sunday: “Football Night in America” (7); “NBC’s Sunday Night Football” (8:20).
