“The Get Down,” a series debuting Friday, Aug. 12, on Netflix, takes place in the South Bronx of the 1970s during the early days of hip-hop and disco. Here are five other TV shows that have been set in that oft-neglected borough:

CAR 54, WHERE ARE YOU? (1961-63) One of TV’s classic comedies, this NBC show focused on a group of goofball cops (none goofier than Joe E. Ross’ Officer Gunther Toody) in the Bronx’s fictional 53rd precinct. The show’s interiors were filmed at the borough’s long-gone Biograph Studios.

THE BRONX ZOO (1987-88) Ed Asner starred in this NBC drama as the principal of an underachieving Bronx high school.

BECKER (1998-2004) In this popular CBS sitcom, Ted Danson starred as the cranky Dr. John Becker, who ran a neighborhood practice in a section of the Bronx that had seen better days. (The show was not filmed there.)

THE BRONX IS BURNING (2007) This 2007 ESPN miniseries dramatized the effect that the dysfunctional but talented 1977 New York Yankees had on New York City, which was reeling from rising crime and severe financial problems.

FEED THE BEAST (2016-) In this AMC drama, David Schwimmer and Jim Sturgess play two troubled pals whose dream is to open an upscale Greek restaurant in their home borough.
