The new Ann Curry on 'Tonight'

Ann Curry's coming-out-party began last night on "Tonight Show." (She takes over from Meredith Vieira in June.)

This clip shows a more playful Curry than the one most viewers are accustomed to -- and probably a bit too playful. There's an extended riff on how she lost her virginity, or at least how her mother wondered how she lost it, using a term that even took the wind out of Leno for a moment, and the audience as well,  which probably thought, "whoa, this is Ann Curry. . . ?!"  (The story is about six or seven minutes in.) But get used to this new Ann Curry. She's got to prove she's just as loose and funny as Katie and Meredith, but there are dangers in such makeovers. Nevertheless, this'll probably be the persona they'll be seeing more of on "Today." Get used to it. . .
