One doctor is out and another doctor will be more in than ever on the next season of HBO Max's "The Pitt."

On Thursday, Variety reported that Supriyah Ganesh, who plays methodical third-year resident Dr. Samira Mohan, will not be back for the Emmy-winning series' third season. All throughout season 2, the character had been dealing with a number of personal and professional difficulties that culminated in Mohan having a severe panic attack in the 10th episode.

Ganesh had been a cast member of "The Pitt" since it premiered last year. Though this was her first regular series role, Ganesh has guest starred on a number of other shows, including "Blue Bloods," "Billions," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "Chicago Med."

Meanwhile, Ayesha Harris, who plays senior night shift resident Dr. Parker Ellis, is getting bumped up to series regular next year. In addition to her role on the popular hospital drama, Harris has appeared in Prime Video's "Daisy Jones and the Six" and Netflix's "Glamorous."

"The Pitt" has been both a critical and popular success for the streaming service. In September, the show racked up five Emmy Awards, including one for best drama series and another for its star, Noah Wyle.
