Todrick Hall takes on Kelly Clarkson

Todrick Hall was up first and took Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone” in an R&B direction. Well, more like a detour. The arrangement, which Todrick said he heard in his head, makes the song totally unrecognizable and was made worse by Todrick’s off notes.

Ellen said the ”chorus was rough,” but she liked that he took a chance. Randy and Kara both praised Todrick’s vocal chops, but felt he rearranged the song too much. Simon said he came across like “a dancer trying to sing” and that what he did was “very stupid.”
