Emmy Award-nominee Tracy Morgan (“30 Rock”), who spent a year rehabilitating from a June 2014 highway accident that left him severely injured, will star in a new TBS comedy with a 10-episode commitment.

The network said Monday that Morgan, 47, would play an ex-con named Tracy who is readjusting to his newly gentrified Brooklyn neighborhood after 15 years in jail. His former girlfriend has married an affable, successful white man who is helping raise Tracy’s twin sons, whom he never knew existed.

The series, for which no title or airdate was announced, is being created by Jordan Peele (“Key & Peele”) and John Carcieri (“Vice Principals”). In April 2014, FXX announced a 10-episode order for an untitled Tracy Morgan comedy created by “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” creators-stars Rob McElhenney and Glenn Howerton, star-producer Charlie Day and producer Luvh Rakhe, which did not come to fruition. Before that, sister network FX did not move forward with a Morgan pilot titled “Do or Die.”
