THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW 50TH ANNIVERSARY: BEST OF MAYBERRY
SERIES Now here's a nice treat for Andy fans, especially those who grabbed season sets when they started hitting DVD in 2004. This inexpensive three-disc package (single-width case in a nice slipcover) contains not just 17 popular episodes but also great extras from 2007's complete-series box.
EXTRAS The show "pilot" is here, and it's actually a 1960 episode of "The Danny Thomas Show" (aka "Make Room for Daddy"), in which Thomas' mouthy comedian gets jailed in Mayberry by (over-) folksy Andy. Also on board: "Return to Mayberry," the 1986 TV-movie reunion with Don Knotts as Barney Fife, Jim Nabors as Gomer Pyle and Ron Howard as Andy's son, Opie. Andy even sings lyrics to the theme song ("Fishin' Hole").
LIST PRICE $25 for three discs, CBS DVD.
