TV on DVD: Complete 'Prime Suspect'

PRIME SUSPECT: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION
Helen Mirren made herself immortal as tough London detective inspector Jane Tennison in this gritty mystery masterpiece, spanning 1991 (Tennison's promotion challenged by sexist male underlings) to 2006 (facing retirement, abusing alcohol). This set collects all seven ITV / PBS movies and miniseries into a box too thick by half. But, wow, this is one impressive body of work. Look for pre-fame appearances by Ralph Fiennes and Tom Wilkinson.
Extras ITV's 45-minute retrospective on the series' impact, interviewing cast, crew and real-life cops.
List price $125, out today from Acorn.
