TV on DVD: The complete defective detective 'Monk'
MONK: THE COMPLETE SERIES
Show Tony Shalhoub's "defective detective" gets a very tidy gift set. His eight seasons come in individual standard-size cases, lined up four next to four inside a wide white box. You can either shelve it in the large, clear plastic slipcase or fold it in half to store among your regular-size DVDs for easy access.
Extras Season-set extras are carried over. Also, episode guide booklet, "Defective Detective Handbook" detailing character's phobias, series trivia.
List price $250, out Tuesday from Universal.
SCRUBS: THE COMPLETE SERIES
Show All nine seasons arrive in a silver "clipboard" cardboard box. DVDs are tucked into page slots in a card-stock binder, hardly the safest storage medium. Or the most informative, since there's no episode guide, and few discs list their episodes.
Extras Season-set extras are retained. "Superfans" may appreciate a bonus disc with a trivia game where correct answers unlock fresh featurettes; others will just get frustrated.
List price $150, Disney. (Also new: Season 9, $30.)
