Take 5: 'Twilight Zone' marathon has William Shatner, Telly Savalas

Syfy's "Twilight Zone" marathon has become as much a part of July Fourth as Nathan's hot-dog-eating contest or Macy's fireworks. This year's marathon will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and resume from midnight to 4 a.m. Among those episodes of Rod Serling's acclaimed series are five actors who also had iconic TV roles:

Art Carney Ed Norton of "The Honeymooners'" starred as an alcoholic department-store Santa Claus in "Night of the Meek" (9 a.m.).

Burgess Meredith The umbrella-toting Penguin from "Batman" also appeared in two episodes: As a man deemed unnecessary to the State in "The Obsolete Man" (4 p.m.) and as the bookwormish survivor of a nuclear attack in "Time Enough at Last" (5 p.m.).

Telly Savalas In "Living Doll" (3:30 p.m.), the future Theo Kojak hadn't completely shaven his head when he played a mean stepfather victimized by Talky Tina, his stepdaughter's malevolent doll.

William Shatner "Star Trek's" Capt. James T. Kirk appeared in two "Zone" episodes -- as a traveler who puts too much faith in a fortune-telling machine in "Nick of Time" (8:30a.m.) and an airline passenger who sees gremlins on the wing in "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" (7:30 p.m.).

Dick York "Bewitched's" put-upon Darrin Stephens starred in "Penny for Your Thoughts" (1:30 a.m.) as a bank clerk who suddenly develops the ability to read minds.
