Stuck my finger into the tree stand this morning as part of my Vacation plant preservative trial, and the gallon-size reservoir was half empty, indicating that the tree was fresh and freshly cut, able to drink up a half-gallon of water in less than 24 hours.

What the tree doesn't know is that the water is laced with an anti-drought treatment intended to eliminate the need for more drinking down the road, essentially turning my festive Fraser fir into a camel tree.

Not sure whether the tree will finish up the water or leave some behind, but it's not going to get any refills.

Check back tomorrow for an update.
