The Long Island Daylily Society will be holding its annual daylily sale and clinic on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. on the Roosevelt Hall Lawn at Farmingdale State University (Route 110 in Farmingdale). More that 1,000 Long Island-grown plants will be available for sale, and they'll even throw in a free daylily with a purchase of $25 or more.
Hundreds of daylilies, all grown by members of the society, will be available at bargain prices. Along with the traditional, large-flowered varieties, the sale will include some of the less common miniatures, doubles and spiders.
The clinic/workshop will begin at 12:30, but past experience tells me it's best to show up when the sale begins to snap up any plants. A few years ago, I arrived around clinic time and they were wiped out.
