Martin Luther King Day is approaching, and chances are you're scrambling to find something to do with your kids. If you're looking to get out of the house and have a little fun, here are a few things to do around Long Island on Martin Luther King Day, including family-friendly performances, animal encounters, crafts, indoor play and more.
See Cinderella at Bellmore Movies (222 Pettit Ave., Bellmore). Join everyone's favorite princess in a live performance of this classic fairy tale by Plaza Theatrical Productions at 11 a.m. Price: $10.
Watch a live children's theater performance of Winnie the Pooh at BroadHollow Theatre Company (700 Hempstead Tpke., Elmont). Kids can join Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore and Tiger at 1 p.m. Price: $12, $10 in advance.
Bundle up the kids and head out on a Seal Observation Cruise at Captain Lou Fleet (28A Woodcleft Ave., Freeport). Set sail from Freeport to view winter harbor seals from 12:30-3 p.m. A naturalist will be on board to discuss biology and behavior of seals and other marine life encountered. Reservations are required. Price: $26 adults, $22 seniors and children ages 3-12, free under 3.
