Actress Julianne Moore – starring right now as President Alma Coin in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" -- will take on a different persona at 4 p.m. Saturday when she reads from her 2013 children’s book "My Mom Is a Foreigner, But Not to Me" (Chronicle Books; $16.95) at BookHampton, 41 Main St., East Hampton.

The event is free, the book will be available for purchase, and Moore will sign them. “Moore is wonderful with children,” says Charline Spektor, owner of BookHampton. “She connects with young listeners. She’s engaging, and she takes the time to let young listeners soak in the meaning of the story.”

“My Mom Is a Foreigner…” is geared to children ages 5 to 8, and it explores what it’s like to have a parent who was born in a different country. Moore’s mother was from Scotland. Moore has also written the children’s book series “Freckleface Strawberry.” She has two children and a home in Montauk.
