Bash the Trash concert Friday in Rockville Centre

Bash the Trash, a family band that builds, performs and educates with musical instruments made from recycled and reused materials, is performing an outdoor concert at 7 p.m. July 24 at the Center for Science Teaching & Learning at the Tanglewood Preserve, 1450 Tanglewood Rd., Rockville Centre. (If it rains, the concert will be under a tent.)

The group has made brass, woodwind, string and percussion instruments from such items as empty plastic water jugs, orange traffic cones and tire rims. Their songs range from rock to jazz to classical, and from DJ'ing and spinning to storytelling. Song titles include "Ice Cream Tragedy," "Lullaby of Heart's Desire" and "Bash Trash Jump."
