Road Trip! Our furry friends are about to have the road trip of their lives! “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip” came out last Friday and it is the fourth Alvin and the Chipmunks movie so far.
Alvin and the crew get in trouble again. This time because they are trying to stop Dave (played by Jason Lee) from proposing to his new girlfriend, Samantha (Kim Paisley), in Miami. The Chipmunks and Miles (the son of Samantha) do not like each other at all. However, they agree to take a road trip together to stop them from getting married. Of course, they get into all kinds of mischief along the way. The movie also stars Tony Hale and Bella Thorne.
We thought this movie was hysterical! “My favorite part was when Theodore got stuck in the tunnel after chasing the golf ball,” Peyton said. James especially liked when Theodore passed gas and called it “pizza toots.” Kierstin added, “The funniest part was when Simon was concentrating hard on trying to hit a golf ball. It was so funny!” Sal loved when the Chipmunks were singing a Bruno Mars song.
We agreed this was one of the best of the “Chipmunks” series of movies. If you love seeing animated movies about furry little chipmunks then this is definitely the movie for you. If you want to find out if the chipmunk trio and Miles stop Dave’s wedding, then be sure to check out this movie.
RATING 4.5
Right after we saw the movie we went over to the Fox offices to meet actress Bella Thorne. We talked to her about her role in the film as Ashley.
How did you get picked for your role of Ashley in “Alvin and the Chipmunks”?
I came in and read a few lines. The director said, “That’s you. You are the character.” He then asked me if there was anything else I wanted to add to the role.
Is it hard to work with characters that are animated?
It is hard. There is a lot of stuff that goes into that. Basically you need 10 takes just for the Chipmunks. They put in stuffed animals and then they take them out. And then they have green stuffed animals and they take them out. Then they have silver and cream balls that come in that are light reflectant. Then they take them out. Then they do a camera to do 360-degree photos and your marks are super critical so whatever you do with your body is really critical to the animation.
What was your favorite part of the movie?
My favorite part was when Theodore gets stuck in the mini golfing scenes. I thought that was really funny.
Which chipmunk are you most like?
Theodore.
“Stars Wars” just came out and now your movie is out. Why should kids see the Chipmunks movie instead?
You probably haven’t seen the new “Star Wars” movie yet, but you should definitely see “Alvin and the Chipmunks.” Your parents can bring you, your mom and your dad, and you can have a nice family outing and see this super fun movie. It has all the mischievous humor from the originals. It is a great part of the franchise.
