Third-through fifth-graders may enjoy attending the free launch event for Port Washington author Beth Ain’s new book, “Izzy Kline Has Butterflies,” from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at the Dolphin Bookshop 299 Main St., Port Washington.

The book, written in free verse, covers a school year in the 9-year-old fourth-grader’s life. “It takes place from the night before the first day of school to the very last day of school,” says Ain.

Ain will read from the book and sign it for those who want to buy it. Copies of the book from Random House cost $16.99 each. Kids will also do a free activity — Ain will distribute butterfly-shaped paper for kids to make a group wall collage of their own butterfly moments, the small, meaningful moments in their lives.

Ain has written seven books for kids, including four in the “Starring Jules” series for ages 7 to 10. Ain, 41, is a mom of two children, ages 9 and 12.
