The book "Fallout," by Todd Strasser (Candlewick Press), was about a nuclear war with Russia. One family had a bomb shelter. Other families would make fun of Scott and the rest of the Porter family because they did not think Russia was going to drop a bomb on the United States, and they thought it was a waste of money.

Then the bomb was dropped. Scott's dad got the family into the shelter. Since everybody knew the Porters had a shelter, they were all scrambling to get there. Five others besides the Porters were able to get in. Now the issue was that they were all in a shelter made for five people and there were 10 inside. Their mom was paralyzed while getting into the bomb shelter and everyone else made it in safely. The story goes on about how they survived living in the shelter. I thought this was a great book and would highly recommend it. It kept me on the edge of my seat as to what was going to happen next, and I think it will do the same for you.
