Ahoy there, mateys! Today is "International Talk Like a Pirate Day," which means thousands of lubbers around the world will unleash their inner pirates. Planning on throwing a pirate-themed party for your kids? Want to wear knickers and an eye patch to work? Here's a primer for all things pirate:
According to the official "International Talk Like a Pirate Day" website, there are five basic words that will help you shiver up your timbers and adopt some pirate language for the day:
* Ahoy! -- "Hello!"
* Avast! -- Stop and give attention, such as "Check it out" or "No way!"
* Aye! -- "Why yes, I agree most heartily with everything you just said or did."
* Aye aye! -- "I'll get right on that sir, as soon as my break is over."
* Arrr! -- This can mean "yes," "I agree," "I'm happy."
