The Coder School in Syosset is hosting a free open house from 1 to 3 p.m. March 18, when a software engineer from Google will speak about his experiences and the school, which just opened in October, will highlight its first summer camp offerings. There will also be raffles and prizes.

Some of the one-week camps being offered this summer include WebRox, which will teach kids ages 7 to 11 html/css and JavaScript; Girls Are Awesome, for girls ages 8 to 10; and Rise of the Machines (AI), for intermediate coders interested in learning more about artificial intelligence.

Camps run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cost between $400 and $500 per camper.

The Google engineer is slated to speak at about 1:30 p.m., says Nisha Bhalla, co-owner.

The Coder School is at 45 Ira Rd., Syosset. Call 516-584-4244 or go to syosset.thecoderschool.com for more information.
