Crafts for kids: Framed stamp art

Sure, it's the first week of school but that doesn't mean kids still can't get crafty. If you're wondering what to do with snail-mail stamps, why not use a few to create some framable wall art instead of throwing them away or collecting them in albums? I found the craft in "Martha Stewart's Favorite Crafts for Kids: 175 Projects for Kids of All Ages to Create, Build, Design, Explore and Share" (Potter Craft; $24.99).
1. Decide on the design you want to create: Let the color or motifs of the stamps inspire you.
2. Arrange stamps according to your design, trimming them as necessary. Complete design with crayons, markers and paint, as desired.
3. Glue the stamps in place, then put a heavy book on your artwork for an hour to help the stamps adhere and get the picture to dry flat.
4. Frame artwork, trimming as necessary.
