Thinking of Scouting? Here’s my experience

Have you ever thought about being a Cub Scout?
When I was 7, I joined Cub Scouts as a tiger and wore the color orange. A year later after doing certain requirements I became a wolf and wore yellow. My next advancement was a bear with a blue neckerchief and a hat. After that I became a Webelo and switched to a tan shirt with green pants. I also got a new plaid neckerchief.
During my years as a Cub Scout we went on many adventures: Adventureland, football games, Ducks baseball games and sleepovers at places like an aquarium, the Bronx Zoo and battleships. During my years as a Webelo I was able to go to Annapolis, Maryland, and see the Navy football game. After the game we took a tour of the Naval base and the surrounding areas. That night we slept in a cabin near the base in our sleeping bags.
Every year my pack has a pinewood derby. Every scout starts with a block of wood to design into cars, which we race. It is usually a fun day.
We also sell popcorn as a fundraiser. We sell the popcorn so the troop can go on trips and fun activities during the year. In the second half of fifth grade, you bridge to Boy Scouts. I recently bridged to a Boy Scout troop in Huntington.
Boy Scouts is a lot more work than Cub Scouts! Eagle Scout is the highest rank in Boy Scouts you can get. Cub Scouts are different in that every year you automatically move up in rank, where in Boy Scouts you only move up once you complete requirements. I feel that Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are a lot of work but it has been fun and exciting and has taught me a lot about life.
