Last year, I was in a few interesting events. I performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, I was a ballerina extra in the film “The Greatest Showman,” and I was a dancer in the Walt Disney World Christmas Parade with Dance the Magic. Here is how it happened for the first two:
For the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, my mom asked me if I wanted to dance and sing in the parade. At first, I said no because I enjoy spending that day at our house, but then I changed my mind. When that happened, my mom showed me a video and said I had to learn this dance. When my dance teacher said I was ready, my mom came in with a camera and recorded me. We sent the video to Camp Broadway, and they accepted me. We spent five nights in the Westin Hotel. We practiced all day Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. When I went to Herald Square we practiced a few times for the TV cameras.
The next day was big! It was finally time for the parade. I woke up at 5 a.m. and got dressed in my costume. My hair was curled and my makeup applied. Then my dad and I took the subway up to Columbus Circle to meet up with the rest of our group and line up in the parade.
Finally, we were singing and dancing. We also looked at floats. It was so much fun! It was a day I would never forget!
I was also in “The Greatest Showman” movie. I am on some websites that movie directors use for casting.
A casting agent called my mom and asked if I would like to be a ballerina extra in the movie. I was so excited, I was screaming for joy! When we got there, I went through wardrobe and tried on a beautiful white and pink ballerina costume, a pearl hair bun holder and pointe shoes.
The first day of filming came, and then we put on our costumes, which now fit us perfectly! Makeup artists did my makeup and a stylist did my hair. A man from the costume department helped me tie up my pointe shoes.
We were on the set and it was warm inside. We got many snack breaks. It was so exciting! I have always dreamed of being in a movie with famous actors, and along the way I made very nice friends!
